Never be ashamed of your Mental Health

I have never been ashamed of my mental health. It makes me who I am. It has taken a lot of work to get to this point.

Six years ago, I had my first therapy session. Having someone who would listen to my problems and also, tell me that I am not crazy for having feelings like that. My therapist decided to try a new therapy treatment called CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). We would discuss a range of issues such as bullying and my lack of confidence. Over a number of weeks, I learnt new techniques in dealing with my issues. I started gaining my confidence back. Today, I, still use the techniques and skills that I learnt in therapy. I have also, done me research into what other people have done to cope with mental health.

I, also, took an antidepressant called Citalopram. I have been on and off of these tablets for the past 6 years. I am, currently, on the lowest dose of these tablets. In addition to taking these tablets, I will do some sort of exercise such as going for a run or to the gym.

All I wanted to say was DON’T BE ASHAMED OF MENTAL HEALTH. It makes you who you are.
