Earlier this year, I started running. I was always the one to come up with excuses such as “I am too fat to run”, “What about my lungs” or “My knees will not last”. However, I decided to try running, after hearing the benefits like strengthening muscles and great for your heart health.
It took me a while to get use to running. I could barely run for 1 minute without getting breathless. I have now been running for over 9 weeks, and I am enjoying it.
These are some of the tips I have learnt in the last few weeks.
There are many running apps out there. As a beginner, I would highly recommend a couch to 5k app. At the moment, I am using C25K (see C25K Review) This are great as they give the runner an overall target to reach.
Great Sport Bra
This is one for the women, I would highly recommend investing in a supporting sport bra. You don’t want to be embarrassment while running. You want to feel confident. My favourite brands are USA Pro and Under Armour.
If you are starting to run, you will need to get a good pair of trainers. There need to be supportive. I love wearing Sketchers Go Run.
Everyone struggle with motivation even if you have been running for a while. For me, there are a few things that can affect my motivation. Things like the weather, my mood, how much workout i had done that week. I will sometimes going for a run and see how I feel after. This usually helps me gain my motivation.
This is one of the most important things that I have learnt. I have tried running without having water beforehand. I struggled. Make sure to keep hydrate before and after running.
You will have aches and pains hen you start running. There are many different pain relief. For example, ice packs/ ice baths, hot showers, Deep heat and deep freeze. I love using ice packs if I have joint pain such as knee and ankles. However, if I have muscle pain, I will use Deep Heat or Deep Freeze.
These are my tips. What are your tips?
Stay Happy Fit.
